Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris previously starred together in Gone Baby. Gone (2007).. I attended the world premiere of this film at SXSW and was very impressed with the way this film dealt with mental health issues with dignity and humor. The performances were nothing short of exceptional, and the script was fresh and nuanced. For a director and screenwriter making their debut in this way, it’s truly incredible. I can’t wait for this film to hit theaters so I can watch it again. The writer/director dared to share her very personal story through the lens of two minority women. It was a very brave and rare move that should also be applauded because the execution is impeccable.

It evokes no feeling beyond a deep sense of irritation and wasted time

The comedic moments are not funny at all (seriously, why does anyone laugh at women cursing men? Boomer humour).

It is very oddly paced and, frankly, boring

Some scenes are nice (if you’ve never been to Asia) and I must appreciate the use of traditional Asian music. However, it’s not enough to make up for how poorly structured and pointless the film is.

Juror no. 4 is essential to the plot, as you know I never give spoilers, but maybe it would be better written to reveal & the twist was hidden from the audience until the last quarter, instead of the first quarter, which removed the tension & the mystery angle that makes this a 10 out of 10 must-see and leaves you feeling like there are plot holes.
