Performed by: Imagine Dragons ft J.I.D.. Arcane tells the story of two young orphan sisters who grow up and get into trouble in the two cities of Zaun and Piltover. The series is based on the video game League of Legends, and although it immediately transports you into this fictional world, the necessary time and attention is given to the creation of places and characters in a commendable show-don’t-tell manner. Solid character development and world-building mean it’s a thoroughly enjoyable spectacle, even if you don’t know anything about the game.
As an anime fan, I found the animation in Arcane to be far superior to anything I’ve ever seen in an animated series. It is obvious that neither artistic talent nor money was spared to revive the world of Runterra. A great soundtrack, great acting and an exciting story that doesn’t shy away from violence and more mature themes. So far, only the first three episodes have been released, and I can’t wait to find out what else they have prepared for us!
