After the untimely death of his father, a young boy is left in terrible solitude in a sprawling country house with his newly widowed stepmother. Her stepmother, struggling to cope with the overwhelming task of parenthood, moves away, putting their fragile relationship at risk of collapse. As tensions mount, the boy begins to hear disturbing noises from the corridors and is soon haunted by a grotesque creature that bears an unsettling resemblance to his late father. Seeing the boy’s warnings as the imagination of a grieving child, the menacing creature tightens its grip on their crumbling lives.
